FAQ
Is this like massage, physiotherapy or yoga?
Together we will work with the belief that in every moment, we make decisions based on our understanding of the information available to us. While our decisions may have been helpful or effective at that moment, circumstances change and we may find ourselves stuck in a rut: injury or diminished quality of life. Our work together will be about expanding your movement possibilities, so that instead of just managing inside your rut, you will have a whole network of movement possibilities at your disposal at any moment.

You won’t be returning for “treatment” for years on end.

In our session, we won’t spend time figuring out what you’re “doing wrong” and we won’t be “fixing” you. There will be no rubbing or kneading of muscles, tendons or ligaments. There will be no stretching or strengthening, or holding set poses or following set movement sequences, so there won’t be any stress to your muscles or joints.

First, we will engage your nervous system to upgrade your perceptual skills so that you can more accurately perceive where you are in time and space. Next, we’ll expand your “movement toolbox” by reminding your nervous system of past decisions which may be restricting you to habitual movement patterns, then gently re-introduce forgotten, non-habitual movements.


These changes happen instantaneously and you will feel the difference, often as soon as you stand up, sometimes in the days and weeks ahead as you notice aches and pains diminish, you are feeling better, or are content about how you are in the world.
How many sessions will it take to clear up my issue?
As a unique individual, you bring a singular set of experiences and goals to our work together. After three sessions, we will talk about how you are moving. You may find that once your primary concerns have been addressed, you’ll want to continue working with me because you are enjoying this process.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Women, if you are comfortable doing so, please remove your bra for the session.
Will there be homework?
No Way! Life is too short for homework. Besides, you have already worked hard enough. If you can, take some time for yourself to notice the changes in your movement.
Can I stretch or work out after my session?
No. During your session, your nervous system will collect information and remind itself of previously forgotten movement options. Give these “new” options time to strengthen, until you sleep. Otherwise, your habitual movement patterns will overwhelm your newly-remembered possibilities. In the meantime, gentle walking is a great way to integrate these new options into your your movement. Once you have slept, you are ready to go. Be sure to pay attention to all the ways you are moving differently.
